Call For Faculty Applications - Special Topics Workshop 2024

The CAE-R Community will be running the annual Special Topics Workshop in 2024 in-person on October 9, 2024 as part of the NCEC held in St. Louis, Missouri (October 7-10, 2024). The topic for the 2024 Workshop is Software Supply Chain Security. The workshop will be led by Professor Kun Sun of George Mason University and Rebecca McWhite of NIST.

Following past years’ practices, the workshop will be restricted to a small number of participants from both CAE-R institutions and government agencies. Workshop results will be briefed at the annual CAE-R Symposium on October 10, 2024.

Workshop Abstract

Software supply chain security is a critical aspect of modern cybersecurity, focusing on protecting all components and processes involved in software development and deployment. Ensuring the integrity, authenticity and security of software throughout its lifecycle, from development to distribution and implementation, is essential. This Special Topic Workshop aims to deepen the understanding of the challenges and to identify enhanced strategies for securing software supply chains against arising threats using emerging technologies such as, for example, Large Language Models (LLMs).

It is expected that the workshop discussions will help in identifying topics that the CAE-R community in particular and the cybersecurity research community at large can collaborate on to advance the current state of software supply chain security.
