The United States Air Force Academy Department of Computer and Cyber Sciences is accepting applications for a Visiting Professor position for the 2023-2024 academic year. This is an 11-month appointment ideally suited for faculty on leave from their host institution. The Academy will reimburse the applicant's host institution for all salary and benefits during the appointment in addition to funding moving expenses.
The Academy is an undergraduate institution that takes great pride in the quality of its teaching. Our students graduate in four years with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Cyber Science and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U. S. Air Force or U. S. Space Force. Our program is fully ABET accredited, and includes courses in programming, architecture, databases, compilers, algorithms, operating systems, software engineering, artificial intelligence, graphics, cryptography, cyber defense, cyber warfare, and cyber operations. The department provides a core computing technology course required of all Academy graduates. Our majors can also participate in independent study/research seminars under the supervision of a faculty member. Our faculty also teach courses for the operations research, data science, computer engineering, and systems engineering majors.
This position provides an opportunity to bring in outstanding faculty from all over the country to enrich our program, and to afford them a unique perspective on the Academy experience. For those not familiar with a military environment, this would be an excellent opportunity to learn more about an institution responsible for educating the young men and women who are sworn to protect America. Interested candidates should contact the Search Committee Chair, Dr. Steve Hadfield, at steven.hadfield@afacademy.
The United States Air Force Academy values the benefits of diversity among the faculty to include a variety of educational backgrounds and professional and life experiences.
