Now in its 17th year, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) continues to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity across our Nation, ensuring that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online. This year’s theme is Do Your Part #BeCyberSmart.

NCSAM 2020 encourages individuals and organizations to own their role in protecting their part of cyberspace, stressing personal accountability and the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity at home, school, and work. As members of the cyber community, you are perfectly aligned to amplify this message and do your part to spread cybersecurity awareness.

Throughout October, NCSAM will focus on the following areas:

  • October 1 and 2: Official NCSAM Kick-off
  • Week of October 5 (Week 1): If You Connect It, Protect It
  • Week of October 12 (Week 2): Securing Devices at Home and Work
  • Week of October 19 (Week 3): Securing Internet-Connected Devices in Healthcare
  • Week of October 26 (Week 4): The Future of Connected Devices

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) host a variety of NCSAM resources and cybersecurity best practices that you can utilize this month and year-round.

Use the NCSAM hashtag #BeCyberSmart to help promote cybersecurity awareness on social media and be sure to register for NCSAM-related events throughout October. On Thursday, October 1, CISA is hosting a NCSAM Town Hall at 11:00 a.m. CDT; click here to register
