Multiple Tenure-Track and Teaching Positions
The University of North Texas (UNT) is an Hispanic-Serving/Minority-Serving Institution, a Tier 1 Research Institution (Carnegie Classification as a Doctoral University: Highest Research Activity), and a founding member of the Alliance for Hispanic-Serving Research Universities. In 2022-2023, UNT plans to recruit for the following faculty positions in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).
Tenure-track positions:
Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Computer Science and Engineering. The College of Engineering has established college-wide priorities for the areas of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Autonomous Vehicles, Digital Manufacturing, and Smart Sensors. The department plans to contribute to these priorities by hiring faculty in our existing strength areas of Algorithms and Computation Science, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Computer Systems and Networking, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering. Candidates who can contribute to one or more of the department’s existing strengths and/or college priority areas, are especially encouraged to apply. The candidates for these positions are expected to teach CSE undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a strong research program funded by external sources, support and mentor graduate students, and provide service to the University and the profession. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering or a closely related field. For an Assistant Professor position, a strong publication record and the potential to succeed in securing research funding and mentoring graduate students are required. For an Associate Professor position, a sustained record of providing mentoring to junior faculty, advising graduate students, providing service to the University and profession, and securing external funding for research activities are also required.
Non-tenure track positions:
Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor with a three-year appointment renewable annually, depending on performance and the availability of funding. The primary responsibility is teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Additional expectations include participating in departmental activities, assisting with ABET accreditation, and providing career guidance to undergraduate students. Clinical positions require a Ph.D. and offer the possibility of engaging in research.
The Computer Science and Engineering department is home to 13 Professors, 12 Associate Professors, 12 Assistant Professors, 9 Clinical Associate Professors, 12 Clinical Assistant Professors, 1 Principal Lecturer and 2 Lecturers, over 100 Ph.D. students, over 1,200 master students, and almost 1,300 bachelor students. We offer a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering, M. S. degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Data Engineering, ABET-accredited B. S. degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, and an ABET-accredited B. A. degree in Information Technology, and a new B. S. degree in Cybersecurity.
