While the government is well aware of the shortage of workforce in cyber security, the accompanying problem of finding qualified instructors in the field has not been well understood. Professor Agnes Chan from Northeastern University, with a grant from NSA, is leading a team of educators to carry out an in-depth study of the shortage problem.
The team includes Coastline Community College, Mohawk Valley Community College, Naval Postgraduate School and University of Alabama, Huntsville.
The first step will be a survey on current landscape and impediments of hiring qualified faculty in the CAE Community. Every Point of Contact from the CAE institutions will find a survey emailed from Professor Chan.
We are asking for everyone’s support in filling out the survey and returning it by July 21. Please make this into a credible study, so we can convince the government that the shortage problem for qualified cyber security instructors is real and needs immediate attention.
If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, regarding the study, please email ahchan@ccs.neu.edu .
