XP Cyber was formerly known as the NICE Challenge Project.
The Cyber Workforce Experience Before the Workforce
We deliver students and educators across the United States real-world cybersecurity workforce challenges to enable the next generation cyber workforce. Our battle-tested cyber range and challenges immerse students in complex virtual environments and business scenarios where they complete tasks as in-demand cyber work roles.
An Academic Cyber Range With a Workforce Mission
The XP Cyber Range is an academic cyber range that enables US-based educators to teach and assess their students' cyber skills and workforce readiness for free and year-round. Through the range, educators can infuse our vast catalog of expert-designed cyber workforce challenges into their classes and clubs to give their students the cyber workforce experience before the workforce.
How are the XP Cyber Workforce Challenges Used?
The XP Cyber Workforce Challenges are primarily designed for use as culminating experiences and assessments. However, they are not limited to this purpose. They are heavily used in a wide variety of use cases.
- Capstone Experiences - Work role based experiences for students approaching graduation to determine if they are ready for the workforce
- Challenge Labs - Next-level labs for upper-division course work, extra credit, and all-star students
- Competition Preparation - Exercises for teams and individuals preparing for cybersecurity competitions
- Free Play - A wide selection of work role based experiences for students to try out and see what suits them
- Instructional Aid - A visual and functional aid in class for showing students real-world issues and how to handle them
Inspired By & Mapped to Major Workforce & EDU Cybersecurity Standards
We map our catalog of cyber workforce challenges to three major cybersecurity standards: the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF), the NICE Framework (NIST SP 800-181), and the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Knowledge Units (NCAE-C KU).
