Cal State San Bernardino’s Cyber Security Center will host its inaugural Cyber Security Summit on Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in the university’s Santos Manuel Student Union Events Center.

There will be free admission to the summit; parking is $5 per vehicle. Participants must register online and print out an admission ticket from the Cyber Security Summit page at Eventbrite.

Sponsored by CSUSB’s College of Business and Public Administration, where the Cyber Security Center is housed, and CSUSB’s Business Alliance, the summit will hold a variety of sessions covering topics related to cyber security featuring experts in the field.

“This summit will talk about those things … real things … scary things that we read about in the headlines,” said Tony Couslon, professor of information and decision sciences and director of the university’s Cyber Security Center. “We want to show how CSUSB and the San Bernardino region can be part of the solution. We have the skills and know-how right here in our backyard.”

Sessions will include: “Cyber Security Is the New Business Priority;” “The Cyber Security Skills Shortage No One Is Talking About;”  “How Secure Is YOUR Bank Information?;” “Hacking Gets Physical: Who Turned Off the Power?;”  “Is Your Business Walking in a Cyber Dark Alley?;” “Inventing the Future of Cyber Security” (includes drone demo); and “Women in Cyber Security.”

Scheduled speakers include Betsy Bevilacqua, information security risk manager, Facebook; Lesley Piper, cyber security engineer, MITRE Corporation; Lea Deesing, chief innovation officer, city of Riverside; Vaughn Book, chief information officer, Arrowhead Credit Union; and Corrine Sande, computer information systems officer, Whatcom Community College.

The luncheon keynote speaker will be Lynne Clark, chief of education, training and academic outreach division at the National Security Agency’s Information Assurance Directorate. The topic will be “Women in Cyber Security.”

Organizations and company participants include Facebook, City National Bank, National Security Agency, Federal CIO Council, Accent Computer Solutions, Ahern Adcock Devlin LLP and the city of Riverside.
