The ACM Task Force for updating the CSEC 2017 Cybersecurity Curricular Guidelines (https://cybered.hosting.acm.org/wp) to identify foundational learning outcomes is seeking input from the CAE Community. This work presents a draft of core subjects essential for a foundational cybersecurity course for a cybersecurity degree program. It aims to establish a foundation in the fundamental principles of cybersecurity.

By establishing a unified set of learning objectives, this work seeks to identify and align core learning outcomes across diverse cybersecurity programs between secondary schools, community colleges and universities. The topics included are derived from a comprehensive analysis of the cross-cutting concepts and knowledge areas from CSEC 2017 guidelines (https://cybered.hosting.acm.org/wp/), with a particular emphasis on the essentials and learning outcomes from each knowledge area section.
