INSA's "The New IC: Empowering Women & Engaging Men" symposium is now BIGGER and BETTER than ever!

Now a virtual program, the 2020 symposium is guaranteed to be the best one yet, with five days dedicated to celebrating and encouraging diversity across the intelligence and national security community! Attendees will hear the personal stories of women and men who have built successful careers and are working to create diverse, inclusive work environments grounded in mutual respect.

Taking place the week of July 6, The New IC programming will include inspiring keynotesengaging TED-talk style ignite rounds, and lively panel discussions with a stacked line-up of all-star speakers! 

Program Outlook

Dual Keynotes (Monday, July 6 | 2:00 pm)

Speakers will share their personal experiences, describe challenges facing women and men in today's IC, and discuss what it will take to be tomorrow's intelligence leaders.

Women as Mentors (Tuesday, July 7 | 2:00 pm)

This extraordinary panel will not only highlight the value of women-to-women mentorship but also the value that women bring to all mentoring relationships in the workplace. Panelists will share their experiences with challenging the gendered idea of mentorship and provide examples of workable tools for incorporating mentoring best practices into an organization.

Ignite Rounds (Wednesday, July 8 | 2:00 pm)

Done in the style of TED Talks, each speaker will give a short presentation on the unique power of women with an opportunity for audience members to engage in a Q&A at the end.

How Diversity and Inclusion Drive Innovation (Thursday, July 9 | 2:00 pm) 

According to a Forbes report “Diversity is a key driver of innovation and is a critical component of being successful on a global scale.” The speakers on this panel have invested time in emphasizing the positive impact a diversity strategy can have on organizational culture. As a group, they have collectively sought to highlight the power of neurodiversity in the workforce by creating an environment inclusive of disabilities.

Sisterhood of Spies (Friday, July 10 | 4:30 pm)

This panel of women from across the Intelligence Community (IC) have come forward to discuss their careers, what they’ve learned from breaking down barriers, and their hope for for a future intelligence community that thrives on diversity.
