INSuRE Summer 2025 Workshop

In an attempt to provide research education and experience to cybersecurity students from CAE institutions, the INSuRE Project is offering two separate intense INSuRE+E research workshops in Summer 2025. Modeled after the INSuRE+E program, teams of students will be working on an applied research problem of national interest mentored by a problem mentor from a government agency. Supervision is provided by a faculty member from a CAE-R institution.


Eligibility Requirements

Students who are entering the 3rd year or above of their undergraduate studies or early MS/PhD students who are US citizens or permanent residents can apply to one or both sessions listed below.



Workshop Logistics

Session 1

    Topic of Research: "Assessment of Risks and Risk Mitigation Approaches for AI-driven Access to Enterprise Data"
    Prerequisite Knowledge: TBD.
    Dates: Monday, June 9 – Friday, June 27 (3 weeks)
    Location: TBD (in-person attendance required)


Session 2

    Topic of Research: "Windows Source-to-Sink Analysis"
    Prerequisite Knowledge: See document above.
    Dates: Tuesday, July 8 — Friday, August 1 (4 weeks)
    Location: TBD (in-person attendance required)


Funding Support for Students

    Students will receive travel support and a stipend of $1350/week to cover room and board.

        All application materials (INCLUDING all faculty recommendation letters) must be received by 11.59pm PT
        Late submissions WILL NOT be accepted

    Resume
        Highlight relevant coursework and experience in cybersecurity

    Unofficial transcript(s)
        Bachelor's degree program
        Master's degree program, if applicable
        Must include all coursework, up to and including Fall 2024

    Personal statement
        No formatting requirements
        Describe your motivation and interest to participate in the workshop(s)
        Discuss your relevant qualifications and coursework to meet the background knowledge needed as described in the problem statements

    TWO (2) Letters of Recommendation
        Contact information for TWO (2) faculty members who have agreed to submit letters of recommendation on your behalf by the Application Submission Deadline
        Only applications for which the letters of recommendation were received in time will be considered complete and reviewed
        Please note, it is the student's responsibility to ensure that the letters of recommendation are submitted on time
